A question of mourning, 2022
Ceramic, moss, various mixed materials, rope
This ceramic pendulum was created as a way of seeking answers to the many questions the world presents right now. Like a fortune teller’s crystal ball or a palm reader’s lines, it holds an idealistic hope that it might guide us—gently pointing toward clarity in uncertain times.
:The quiet sensation of movement without motion. must be watched closely. Moss slowly creeps and grows across its surface, covering the form as if time is passing in the forest—silent, deliberate, grounding. I n a world that often feels chaotic and disconnected, this moss-covered object emerged from a need to find stillness, to restore a sense of magic, and to make meaning.
Embedded in its layered surface are traces of narrative and memory—text, photographs, imprints from the natural world. Most remain hidden, just beneath the surface. The pendulum invites a moment of contemplation, a pause, a chance to listen more deeply.
