Ceramic, threads, baby bottle nipples, needles
Loose Threads explores parenthood, the body, and the fragile ways we hold ourselves together, physically and emotionally. A mapped ceramic form is pierced with needles and wrapped in trailing threads, bringing together materials linked to care, nurture, mending, and repair. Light from behind turns the surface into something that feels like skin or a shifting landscape, both bodily and structural at once.
Threads fall downward like slow breaths or lingering memories, moving beyond control. Baby bottle nipples suggest early dependence and tenderness, while the needles interrupt that softness and add tension and vulnerability. The work allows these opposing feelings to exist side by side, where comfort and unease meet.
At its core, Loose Threads is about connection, how we attach to others, how care can both support and let go, and how identity forms through lived experience. The installation asks viewers to consider what it means to stay open while carrying the marks of our ancestral trauma and what we have been through.
