Ceramic, needles, thread, fabric
The work 𝘜𝘯𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 explores what it means to be inside out, that vulnerable state where our internal landscape becomes external and our attempts at self-repair and healing are laid out for everyone to see. Each red thread piercing through the needle and into the ceramic form shows the delicate, often painful process of mending ourselves. We reach through our own brokenness with such violent tenderness, knowing how fragile we can become.
I've been contemplating this combination of ceramics and thread for a long time, imagining how fibers might find home on a ceramic piece and how fragility and strength might coexist. There's something so interesting about materials that refuse to hide their differences and create meaning from their unlikely pairing. We are all attempting impossible repairs on ourselves with whatever threads we can find.
