Everything is going to be just fine, 2020
Ceramic, glass, wood
This piece is a playful subversion of the ceramic tchotchkes that populated the shelves of my childhood. They were antique figurines meant to suggest order, taste, and the illusion of a “normal” household. The cat woman at first appears to belong to that world: small, decorative, quietly posed.
But the cracks start to show. Parts of her have fallen off, and she’s smoking a cigarette.
What begins as a nostalgic nod quickly unravels into something more honest—an intimate portrait of the quiet unraveling that often hides in plain sight.
