Inspired by the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, this piece is about ones emotional state as a woman and parent in the home and the need to simply vanish just for a moment, tantamount to hiding in the bathroom for a few minutes respite. The constant need to act as if everything is okay, put on a brave face. Reminiscent of my mother's shelves, the piece exists a a tchotchkes , with a sense of nostalgia and holding memory, but also a way of honoring ourselves.
